This week's Athlete of the Week goes to Zane Patel!
From Coach Burman:
Last Thursday in the CIF semi-final, the Firebirds trailed by 2 points with 16 seconds to play. Gavin Fletcher drove the ball heading straight to the basket when he was cut off by 2-3 defenders. Gavin made the instant decision to kick the ball out to a teammate deep in the corner, where this player caught it and smoothly drained the game winning 3 with 7 seconds to play, nothing but net, sending the entire gym into a frenzy and sending the Birds to the championship game! It was a once in a lifetime shot. The confidence and calm it took for this player, in the moment, to step up and hit this shot will never be forgotten. This week’s athlete of the week, after draining the most important shot for PRS basketball of the last decade, is Zane Patel.

The Pacific Ridge School Girls Varsity Tennis team wrapped up an incredible regular season with a decisive 17–1 victory over Classical Academy, securing the title of Coastal Pacific League Champions and completing an undefeated league season.

Heading into Thursday’s match, Pacific Ridge and Classical were tied for first place in the Coastal Pacific League. The Firebirds rose to the challenge, earning a decisive 12–6 victory to take sole possession of first with a 6–0 league record and three matches remaining.
