The matchup against Classical marked a powerful finish for the Firebirds, who showed how much they’ve grown since their first meeting with the team earlier this season. Every player contributed to the win, demonstrating focus, teamwork, and determination on the court.
Aiyla Gallegos '28 delivered a standout performance, going 6–0 in all three of her sets—including a win over Classical’s top singles player, who had previously defeated her earlier in the season. Grace Gong '28 also turned the tables, coming from behind to win 7–5 after trailing 3–5 in her match against the same opponent she lost to in their first meeting. Mila Ellingsen '28 dominated play as well, dropping only one game across her three sets.
The doubles teams brought the same energy and grit. Maddie Rubio '26 and Parisa Mazarei '27 battled through a tense tiebreak in their third round, earning a 7–6 (7–2) victory. Sophie Havranek '27 and Mathilde LaPointe '28 reunited after weeks apart to take a big 6–3 win, while Ariana Samady '29 and Alexa Costa-Diaz '29 secured a key victory over Classical’s top doubles team, flipping the result from their previous matchup. Katherine French '26, paired with LaPointe, added more doubles wins against Classical’s top two pairs.
It was a day full of small triumphs and big moments as the Firebirds celebrated not just a win, but a season defined by growth, perseverance, and teamwork.

Heading into Thursday’s match, Pacific Ridge and Classical were tied for first place in the Coastal Pacific League. The Firebirds rose to the challenge, earning a decisive 12–6 victory to take sole possession of first with a 6–0 league record and three matches remaining.
