  • Athletics

Our #1 seeded Girls Lacrosse team captured the 2026 CIF San Diego Section Division II Championship over the weekend with a thrilling 10–9 victory over #2 seeded Tri-City Christian School.

After trailing by three goals in the third quarter, the Firebirds mounted an impressive comeback, scoring five of the game’s final six goals to secure the championship. The game-winning goal came from senior Piper O’Shea with 9:45 remaining, capping off a resilient and determined performance from the team.

O’Shea and fellow senior Calista Lowery led the offense with four goals each, while sophomore Simone Hobbs and freshman Avalon Lowery each added a goal. Sophomore Zoe Munoz contributed two assists, and freshman goalkeeper Gia Gaudio made several clutch saves down the stretch to help preserve the victory.

The championship concluded a historic season for the program. The Firebirds finished the year with just one loss — and that defeat came by only a single goal — showcasing the consistency, resilience, and competitiveness the team displayed throughout the season.

This year also marked a major personal milestone for Piper O’Shea, who surpassed 100 career goals during her lacrosse career at Pacific Ridge School. Her achievement reflects the dedication and leadership she has brought to the program throughout her time as a Firebird.

Congratulations to our players and coaches on an incredible season and an unforgettable championship run. We are so proud of our Firebirds!
