Pacific Ridge is pleased to offer summer programs for students in elementary, middle, and high school. Unless otherwise noted, summer programs are open to both Pacific Ridge students and the wider community. Summer programs include a variety of academic enrichment classes, arts workshops and sports camps. Students can choose single or multiple sessions, with offerings beginning on June 13 and ending August 12.

Lacrosse players of all ages and skill levels, are you Interested in learning the game or sharpening your existing skills this summer? During this weeklong session, players will strengthen fundamental skills, improve their lacrosse IQ, and participate in fun team-play games and competitions. Players will be grouped according to age and skill level for optimal learning and improvement. The camp will be run by Caitlin Cataldo who has coached elementary schoolers through collegiate athletes and is the current Pacific Ridge Middle School Girls Lacrosse coach.
Off-Campus: This course will run entirely off campus at bird watching locations. Participants will be responsible for transporting themselves to and from the site.
In this week-long course, enrolled students will be introduced to the amazing avian world of North County San Diego. Students will learn to spot, identify, and record sightings in this outdoor class. While out in the various habitats found near PRS, students will learn basic skills associated with ornithology in the best classroom: nature! Students will leave with a general understanding of how and where to find certain common species found in North County San Diego, how to interact with the natural world without disturbing it, and how to get involved in the citizen science world. Leave campus for the morning and take flight on a tweet-worthy adventure!
In this week-long class, directed at novices in woodworking, the younger student will learn how to safely use basic hand tools for woodworking. They will have a number of prepared projects available to them to build and will be mentored throughout each project. They will have instruction in different ways to cut, attach, shape, and finish wood and other materials. At the end of camp the student will have completed two or more projects to take home with them, and will leave camp feeling qualified and comfortable with the tools they have used.

This one-week course will explore a variety of creative outlets through the lens of photography. Using digital SLR cameras (provided by Pacific Ridge School) students will learn both technical and artistic skills while capturing a range of subjects including portraits, landscapes, and abstracts. At the conclusion of the course, students will compile a portfolio of their work.

During these sessions, students improve upon fundamentals, technique, footwork, tactics, and skills, while having fun and learning team-building concepts. Players will be grouped according to age and skill level for optimal learning and improvement. The camp will be run by Coach Leo, who has worked with every level of player from 4-year-old novices to international professional stars. Coach Leo currently heads the PRS Middle School boys team and assists with the Middle School girls team.
In this session students will use their imagination to become creators and innovators. Students will engage in hands-on, open-ended design challenges using real construction tools and materials. We will learn through doing, celebrate our mistakes, and work together to design and build. The class is facilitated by Kim Viernes, parent/architect/graphic designer and founder of tinkering camp. If you love cupcakes and cakes, it is time to take them to the next level. Let’s get ready to decorate cakes and cupcakes with fondant shapes. Imagine creating custom treats for family events, special holidays, or just because! In this class, you will learn the basics of how to roll and color fondant, as well as how to model shapes like three-dimensional flowers, leaves and borders. With fondant, the possibilities are endless!

Calling all lacrosse goalies! Whether you’re picking up a goalie stick for the first time or have been minding the net for years, this camp is for you. Goalies will receive individualized training, improve footwork and reaction time, and learn proper form and technique. The camp will be run by current Pacific Ridge Middle School lacrosse coach, Caitlin Cataldo, who played collegiate lacrosse goalie and has since worked with goalies of all ages and levels of experience. Field players should not register for this camp as it is specific to goalies.
