After-School Program Fall 2024

This class is open to beginners and more experienced crochet students alike! We will cover the basic stitches of crochet and select a couple of projects together as a group. More experienced students can work on more advanced stitches. Crochet is a relaxing, almost meditative activity that is both creative and challenging.  Each student will receive a starter set of crochet hooks and tools. The course will provide some basic yarn colors and styles for students. However, students are welcome to purchase additional yarn of their choosing based on their style preferences and project type. Depending on the skill set of each individual student, everyone should finish this program with at least one or more completed projects.  Join me in learning a skill that will offer you a lifetime of relaxation and creativity. 

This class will introduce students to the versatile and dynamic mediums of acrylic and watercolor paint. They'll learn basic techniques such as blending, layering, and brushwork, as well as color theory and composition. Through guided exercises and independent projects, students will gain confidence in their painting abilities and explore their own artistic style. 

Looking for a space to learn and connect with other aspiring musicians? Come jam in our after-school PRS rock band! Join us on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:00 throughout the fall to dial into creativity and have fun as you learn to play guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboards, and/or vocals. In this band, we will spend time exploring our instruments, rehearsing, learning songs, and songwriting. Who knows where the music might lead us?

This clinic is tailored for athletes at all skill levels, aiming to establish a solid foundation and elevate participants to a higher level of shooting proficiency.
What to Expect:
• Fundamental Shooting Development: Learn key techniques and drills used by NBA and WNBA players to refine your shooting.
• Quick Release and Footwork: Master essential footwork and quick release strategies to improve your shooting efficiency under pressure.
• Competitive Drills: Engage in shooting competitions that simulate game conditions, including defensive pressure.

About the Coach:

Rachel Nagel is the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Pacific Ridge and Co-Director for Nike US Sports Camps and Snow Valley Basketball School. She has also served as an assistant coach at the University of San Diego and UC Davis.
In her role as an assistant coach, Nagel focused on offensive strategies and player development. Her work helped Toreros achieve a third-place finish in the West Coast Conference and advance to the third round of the WNIT in her first season.
As a player at UC Davis from 2014 to 2018, Nagel scored over 1,000 points with a 41.9% shooting percentage from three-point range. She also contributed to back-to-back Big West Regular Season Conference Championships and helped her team reach the WNIT Sweet Sixteen in 2017 and the Elite Eight the following season.
