Giving FAQs

What is the Annual Fund and why should I support it? Pacific Ridge School depends on the Annual Fund for revenue beyond tuition to support an outstanding learning environment. As is the case at virtually all independent schools, tuition and fees do not cover the full cost of educating students. The Annual Fund helps close this gap - typically 5-10% - between what tuition covers and the actual cost of educating each student. The difference is generally more than $2,000 per student.
Are gifts to the Annual Fund tax-deductible? Yes! Because PRS is a registered nonprofit and 501(c)(3), all gifts to the Annual Fund are tax-deductible. Tax ID #86-1061606
Does it matter when I make my gift? Yes. Although PRS's fiscal year runs through June 30, all Annual Fund gifts are used in the year they are received. Early donations and pledges help our school plan for a successful year. While pledges can be paid any time before June 30, donors often choose to make their gift before December 31 for tax purposes.
Who gives to the Annual Fund? Every year, Pacific Ridge seeks support from all families with currently enrolled students, as well as alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, trustees, and faculty and staff. We are grateful that 100% of trustees, faculty, and staff have given every year since the school's founding.
How much should I give to the Annual Fund? We ask that families make supporting Pacific Ridge a priority and give to the best of their abilities on an annual basis, even if you are receiving tuition assistance. Above all, we strive for 100% participation, which sends a powerful statement of support and can be critical to receiving external funding. Corporations and foundations often want to see that they’re investing in an institution that has the full support of its community. Every gift, no matter the size, makes an impact.
