Sydney O'Shea '24 Returns to Campus in a New Role

This summer, PRS alumni Sydney O’Shea ‘24 returned to campus – but this time in a new role.

As a marketing and communications intern, Sydney jumped into the department's day-to-day work, gaining hands-on experience creating content, shaping stories, and supporting projects across the school. Throughout the summer, she created social media content, helped edit the school’s Annual Report, learning the processes behind the department’s work, and contributed to early planning for Pacific Ridge’s upcoming 20th anniversary. 

“Overall, this internship gave me a look at the work that goes into marketing and storytelling for Pacific Ridge School,” said Sydney. “Most importantly, however, it allowed me to return to a place that shaped me and contribute to it in a new way. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to learn, create, and view my former school from a completely different perspective.” 

The annual marketing and communications internship is part of Pacific Ridge’s focus on career exploration and preparation through its NExT Internship Program, which helps students and alumni explore career interests and gain real-world experience.

“It’s a win-win all around,” says Gigi Theberge, Director of Marketing and Communications. “Welcoming Firebird alums back to our team brings a fresh perspective, builds connection and immerses interns in the work of an active school marketing and communications department. And there’s something especially meaningful about seeing our graduates return and contribute to the PRS community in a new way.” 

As Sydney returns to Loyola Marymount University this fall to continue studying business and marketing, we wish her all the best and look forward to seeing where her interests and experiences take her next.
