Pacific Ridge School is proud to celebrate an extraordinary achievement by student-athlete Eli Terlecky '28, who recently earned a place on the Bolivia U-17 Women’s National Team and is now competing on the international stage.

Eli’s journey began when she was invited to participate in national team tryouts in Bolivia—an opportunity that quickly turned into a rigorous, multi-phase evaluation process. Competing alongside top players from across the country, Eli advanced through several rounds of training held in Santa Cruz and La Paz.

The experience was both physically and mentally demanding. Players trained under intense conditions, including high-altitude sessions near Lake Titicaca, while adhering to structured schedules overseen by coaching staff, nutritionists, and team leadership. For Eli, the challenge was even greater—she was the only player in the final pool not living in Bolivia, adapting quickly to a new environment, teammates, and expectations.

Despite these challenges, Eli’s perseverance, work ethic, and competitive spirit stood out. She successfully earned a place on the final roster, a remarkable accomplishment that reflects her dedication to the sport and her ability to thrive in high-pressure situations.

Eli represented Bolivia at the CONMEBOL Sudamericano Femenino Sub-17 in Asunción, competing against some of the top young talent in South America.

Her journey is a powerful example of resilience, courage, and commitment—values that define the Pacific Ridge experience. We look forward to cheering her on in the future and are incredibly proud of all she has accomplished on and off the field. ⚽🌎

Head of School Commencement Address 2026

Families, Parents, Guests,

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and Board of Trustees of Pacific Ridge School, thank you for joining us for Commencement, 2026 - the 16th in our school’s short history.

I began this year by talking with our faculty and staff about Artificial Intelligence (AI).  My message was clear, at least I hope it was.  AI is here; we don’t get to ignore it, and, if we are going to prepare our young adults for their future, we must begin to find ways to incorporate AI into our education, our Pacific Ridge education.  As I expected, that message was both embraced and found to be frustrating.

I know, for example, that shortly after that opening talk, groups of faculty engaged excitedly in discussing how to engage our students in these emerging opportunities, while other groups of teachers actively said to one another, “No way, we are not going there.  We are about people, we are not about technology.”

And, something that is amazing about this moment…  both are right.
