Global Vantage Shares Stories from Zanzibar

Earlier this week, members of the Global Vantage Service Learning group hosted a special community event at the Carlsbad Dove Library, where they shared reflections and stories from their recent global travel experience to Zanzibar.

During the evening, students recounted memorable moments from the trip—highlighting their continued partnership with the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy (KGSA) and the meaningful cultural exchange that took place. Through photos, storytelling, and personal reflections, the group illustrated how the journey deepened their understanding of global citizenship, education equity, and community-driven change.

The event also featured Katy Troyer, Executive Director of the KGSA Foundation, who shared updates on current initiatives in Kibera and discussed ways the Pacific Ridge community can continue to support ongoing projects.

It was an inspiring evening that celebrated the lasting connections between PRS and KGSA—and the transformative power of service, learning, and global partnership.

Check out the global travel video below, where PRS students met up with girls from our longtime Global Vantage Service Learning partners at Kenya’s Kibera Girls Soccer Academy (KGSA).
