At the end of March, Pacific Ridge School came alive with creativity as students, families, and faculty gathered for the annual Showcase of the Arts, an inspiring celebration of artistic expression across disciplines.

The campus was transformed into a vibrant gallery and performance space, displaying stunning visual artwork and photography, while screening rooms featured original student films. Throughout the evening, audiences were treated to dynamic performances in music, dance, and theatre.

"The Arts Showcase is an amazing program that we run every year, to give students the opportunity to share their passions, show their various techniques and skill levels in visual and performing arts," shares Art Department Chair Alison Behr

The Showcase is an opportunity for students to take creative ownership of their work. Many participants collaborate with peers to produce original pieces, from choreography and musical compositions and dramatic performances. Others use the platform to present deeply personal or experimental projects, demonstrating both technical growth and artistic risk-taking.

As a juried exhibition, the Showcase also recognizes excellence across categories, with students receiving awards for their work. Families and community members play an important role in the evening, engaging with the art, attending performances, and celebrating the incredible range of talent on display.

For Behr, Showcase is about giving students an opportunity to share their experience.

"Students are empowered to share their voice, share their perspectives, and generally celebrate each other."

One of the most meaningful aspects of the Showcase is the way it encourages students to step outside their comfort zones. For some, it marks the first time they have publicly shared their work.

Behr reflects, "Some of the more unique moments and experiences at showcase tend to come when we have students who are entering the competition and sharing their work, and they haven't had a chance to do that in the past. Showcase becomes a new experience and a really fulfilling one for them."

These moments when students take creative risks, support one another, and discover new confidence, are what make the Showcase such a memorable and impactful tradition at Pacific Ridge.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Showcase of the Arts, and to the faculty, staff, and volunteers whose dedication and hard work make this special event possible year after year.

Head of School Commencement Address 2026

Families, Parents, Guests,

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and Board of Trustees of Pacific Ridge School, thank you for joining us for Commencement, 2026 - the 16th in our school’s short history.

I began this year by talking with our faculty and staff about Artificial Intelligence (AI).  My message was clear, at least I hope it was.  AI is here; we don’t get to ignore it, and, if we are going to prepare our young adults for their future, we must begin to find ways to incorporate AI into our education, our Pacific Ridge education.  As I expected, that message was both embraced and found to be frustrating.

I know, for example, that shortly after that opening talk, groups of faculty engaged excitedly in discussing how to engage our students in these emerging opportunities, while other groups of teachers actively said to one another, “No way, we are not going there.  We are about people, we are not about technology.”

And, something that is amazing about this moment…  both are right.
