Student Leaders Prepare for the Year at Third Annual Leadership Institute

During student orientations, Upper School student leaders came together for the third annual PRS Student Leadership Institute, a morning focused on building leadership skills and preparing for the year ahead.

The group included student leaders from Upper School clubs, service learning, affinity and alliance groups, Student Council, and athletics captains. Through interactive activities, group collaboration, and individual reflection, students explored what it means to be a leader and considered how their individual strengths, identities, and actions can shape their impact on the PRS community.

The training focused on several key areas of leadership. Students examined their own leadership styles and explored how self-awareness, teamwork, and engagement can help them lead effectively. They also developed practical skills for their leadership toolkit, including organization and communication, while becoming more familiar with school processes and procedures that will help them navigate their roles throughout the year.

The morning also encouraged students to look beyond the start of the school year and think about what they hope to accomplish. Through goal setting, backwards planning, and ongoing reflection, students developed a vision for their leadership and the contributions they want to make to their groups and the broader PRS community.

The institute gave students an opportunity to connect across different areas of campus, learn from one another, and begin the year with a shared understanding of what thoughtful, purposeful leadership can look like at Pacific Ridge.
