Congratulations to the Pacific Ridge Girls Varsity Lacrosse team, who beat Ramona High School 8-7 on Saturday, May 16th to capture the CIF Division II Championship title!
The girls won the championship, the first in team history, in thrilling fashion. After falling behind 6-3 early in the second half, the fourth-ranked Firebirds chipped away at second-seeded Ramona's lead. Sophomore goalkeeper Maranda Phillips conceded only one point during the Firebird's methodical comeback. With just a minute remaining in regulation, senior Britta Gullahorn scored the equalizer, sending the game into overtime and the hearts of Firebird fans into overdrive. During the first extra period, senior Noelle Reich scored the winning, and only, overtime goal. Rock on, Firebirds!
