Service Learning Group Breathes New Life Into History

New Upper School service learning group ANKH (Advancement of Narratives in the Knowledge of History) has set out to promote students' interest in learning history.
The group plans to visit local primary schools, presenting history lessons that are fun, engaging, and that prompt students to view the discipline, and the world, differently. Last week, ANKH taught a lesson on Renaissance art vs. modern art to 7th and 8th graders at Encinitas Country Day School. The lesson began with a spirited game of Pictionary and ended with students examining art from each genre, then discussing how differences in use of color, emotion and subtext reflected the differences in societal beliefs then and now.
