On January 23rd, students traveling to Nepal during this spring's Global Travel Program met with Mr. Ramesh Kharel, former Chief of the Kathmandu Police.
In Nepal, students will be exploring the country's challenges with human trafficking by visiting non-profit organizations, safe houses, and rural communities affected by the problem. Mr. Kharel provided students with firsthand knowledge of the complex, global issue, and offered to meet with them during their trip. Mr. Kharel was in San Diego for the WorldLink Youth Town Meeting, an annual event at which more than 700 high school students meet with representatives from public and private organizations to discuss international affairs. Seven Pacific Ridge students attended this year's meeting, themed "Healing the Wounds of Violence."
