A new program is putting the infrastructure in place to encourage leadership, initiative and empathy among ninth-graders. After completing an initial curriculum covering topics such as social justice, design thinking and leadership, ninth graders will work together in interest-based groups to learn more about specific issues and explore how they can help. Students will try to address deeper structures within a social justice issue. “We want them to be thoughtful about social justice and to work in the community to find solutions,” said Upper School Co-Head Allegra Molineaux. Later in the year, they will have the option to continue with their mission or join an already established service group.
