About the Program

SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips students with the resources they need to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). The SeaPerch Program provides students with the opportunity to learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) with a marine robotics theme. Instructors Hunter and Jen Pashkow bring a history of great success to this competition-based program. Last year was the sixth time they led students to victory in the San Diego SeaPerch competition. All six years they have been facilitating the club, teams have qualified for and competed at the national level.

This club is designed for students with varying degrees of familiarity with robotics. Experienced robotics students will advance their knowledge and be competitive at San Diego Regional SeaPerch competitions. Their focus will be placed on qualifying for the national competition. The club is also open to students new to SeaPerch or any robotics program.  Students will learn the basics of soldering a remote, building motors, and designing a frame for their SeaPerch.
We suggest that students find friends to make a team of three students. Single students or two-person teams are encouraged to join, as we can often find them a suitable teammate. Two-person teams may be acceptable, although not ideal.
The San Diego Regional SeaPerch Competition (The national competition qualifier) will be held in April. The best three Pacific Ridge teams will be expected to compete in this competition. The national competition will be held in May.
